Late Summer 2009 Amythest Cat Creations

Wed Sep 2, 2009, 9:34 AM
Welcome to Amythest Cat Creations featuring one-of-a-kind handmade original bead work, jewelry, textiles and more. I specialize in re-loving, which is reusing beads, pendants, old chains and practically anything else deserving of a new life. The whole nine lives thing really, =^.^=. Additionally you may notice the use of semiprecious stones, I favor these for their beauty and for the feelings they generate, as some believe they are capable of being more then just a thing.

I aim to make every piece unique, no two ever the same, mayhap close but not identical. Where is the fun in that everything being the same anyway? That's what commercial products are for. You're here because you want something different, right?!

Photography, unless otherwise noted, is taken using a Nikon Coolpix S210.

Please, be my guest and feel free to have a closer look. Impressions, thoughts, feelings are welcomed and encouraged. See something you like, desire something to be made? Note me. Don't have a deviant account? Just below this box you will find Devious Information. There you will find a website link. This will take you to a guest book where you may leave your print and my business e-mail. So, satisfy your curiosity and let Amythest Cat take care of you! =^.-=

Current news:

At the moment I am working on getting my hands on interesting supplies. I have been lacking personal transportation so have been a bit cut off from my usual haunts. I hope to get back into the swing of things soon. Lets just say I need something happy inspiring to fill some time right now...

By some older calanders and the time when we were in more tune with the rhythm of the world, this is a day to recognize the growing length of light. Mondernized to Groundhog Day in the US, 6 more weeks of winter, Christinaized to Candlemas, Brighid's day in another corner and paganized to imbolic, meaning "in the belly", something has been recognized about being tis day having a special quality. I hope we all can agree to recognize that winter in the northern hemisphere can only hold on so long and to let yourself spread some warmth with an extra light today, reflect on what waits to grow, how you can aide it and what should be nurtured and cared for in yourself and others. Nurturing milk is a symbol of the day, and fire another. Play safely and celebrate ;)

In this order I am trying to look brightly upon my slowly growing work here. I have made one local sale, and am trying to determine the best use of this small fund. More meterials, yes, but for which endeavour. I have the idea of having materials for prom accessories, but have yet to put out myself for this in the first place. Another I love what I do, but have no direct cause to be making for at the moment so new things could be slim for the moment. Though valentines day cards are in the makng.

So, all in all keeping my chin up, I know this has a chance to be a long road but it's one I will travel for as many twists as I can handle and it has been smooth so far. Finding stable, regular work has to guide this the most right now, but I try to make a weekly sidetrip to my creative upkeep. I just need to work more on the log along the way.

Blessings to all and good crafting!

Halloween edition

Pumpkins, rats, zombies, ghosts and spooks. Man, I've been busy ;)

No, truly, I've seen them all in the span of a week...

Kicked off last Wednesday with one of my more pleasant 2 hours waits in line to see (and hope to meet) Jason Hawes and Grant Wilson. Ringing any bells yet. Tap it out, or should I say T.A.P.S. it out, yes, I got the meet the Ghost Hunters. And oh man did it rock! So much love to Jason and Grant for sticking it through aand making it to see us all. "Curtains" were up at 8 pm, they started their day in Virgina at 3 am (I'm in Seacoast NH) and Jason was sick to boot. But the were just plain old great to be around. It was like getting together to chat, they were totally interactive, down to earth, parents, then plumbers then Ghost hunters. I spoke with each, got some segments recorded on my mp3 player and had a grand old time.

Pumpkin Fest!

I've finally this year kicked my behind into gear to get into volunteer activities that have appealed to me. Setting up book sales at my public library, plants sales and watering the adopt-a-spot with the garden club, and just this past weekend, the Pumpkin fest. And as an added bonus....rain!

But, I slogged it through 7 and a half hours, the only volunteer in costume (gypsy, thank you ;)) and sold bracelets, monitored for pumpkin carving and painting, scarecrow making, and enticed the ghouls and goblins to pumpkin ring-toss. The target was to catch a pumpkin with the toss of a hula hoop. I'd play with them "Beat a gypsy, catch a pumpkin!". The event also included pumpkin bowling, smashing, catapult (launched a pumpkin from a trebucehete), a hay slide, wagon ride, entertainment and food, food, food. I came home with pumpkins huge and small and had a blast, even in the rain.

Following day....

They're coming to get you Dover...

checking my voice mail I find that the Zombie walk for the previous day had been postponed to this day. I have it free. Zombie up!

Not having a costume planned (husband and I were not origianally going to be able to make it) I reprised my gypsy (that day in the rain was pretty tragic it turns out). Was so very happy to the library book I had on hand (A Halloween How To) with great make-up tips. Spirit gum, oatmeal, cotton balls and make-up are great for rotting and dead skin. Did my whole face, one hand and just blacked up the other. I hope to snag pictures from friends... Won second place in costumes, 3rd with hubby in jello-brains eating contest as well. Get dressed and with free stuff, all good to me. I have to remember to donate next year...

Wew, this is getting long, thanks if your sticking through it!

Finally Halloween. There was trick or treating last night. Weird, I know, but they do try to keep the kidlets safe... so finally this years costume came out. I am Nezumi the Pi-Rat! I am sadly lacking in photos (I'm DYING for a digital camera) but hope to have some tonight for the local Halloween parade.

Oh, and on a more business related side, I have goods up and for sale at Cynthia Design's Studio in Dover NH . So, please, have a looksie if you wind up in my neck of the woods. Here's hopeing for sales as I needs more supplies... >.<

Love to all, stay warm (or perhaps cool depending on your location on this huge spinning rock) and may the brighest blessings be yours!

September 5, 2007 * CraftMo (similar to NANO WriteMo ( NANO but I is not a writer) results

Completed - just around 40, I lost track...:>.>:
20 pairs earrings.
~ 10 necklaces.
~ 3 bracelets.
~ 7 pendants.
and a few other various items... so close...:>.<:

Goal- 50 by midnight Friday August 31.

Outcome: Task was not completed :sigh:

However, I am not disappointed. Those doing WriteMo have the first goal of quantity, not quality. I needed to aim for both, as all I produced was either for product, promotion, donation or to be gifts. So, no slacking allowed. I will begin posting these creations soon. I have more to continue doing for a fast approaching deadline. I need to make tags and business cards for product display for this Sunday. I do these all by hand at the moment. So yea, that's CraftMo in a nutshell.

Next deadline:

This Sunday, meeting to potentially sell retail. Yosh!
